ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal has directed the concerned formations of the authority to submit comprehensive and feasible plan for Islamabad Transport System within a week. Under this plan, a state of the art transport system will be provided from the suburban areas to major roads particularly to the metro stations in Islamabad. Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal was addressing the meeting which was also attended by Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering, Member Planning and Design and other senior officers of the authority. During the meeting Chairman CDA was briefed that planning of Islamabad Transport System is in final stages. Under this plan four (04) different routes are being proposed which will connect the areas like Tarnol, Nelor and Baharakahu etc with metro bus stations which will not only increase the utility of Metro Bus Service but will also facilitate the general public at large. Maroof Afzal directed the concerned formations of the civic body to submit feasible plan within a week time so that practical work on the Islamabad Transport Plan could be started at the earliest. He said that there is no proper transport system which could cater the needs of suburban areas of the Islamabad, however, this public welfare project will not only facilitate the residents of suburban areas but will also augment the transport needs of the city. Meanwhile, the CDA has decided to constitute a special unit to conduct a detailed survey of housing facilities being provided to low-paid government employees’ and submit its recommendations regarding repair and maintenance of the housing units.
