ISLAMABAD: A large number of PTI workers poured out from different parts of the country to observe the “Thanksgiving Day” announced by Imran Khan in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to set up a commission to investigate the Panama Leaks at the Parade Ground. A huge stage was set up in a ground originally established for the Pakistan Day parade near Shakarparian. The PTI supporters started reaching the venue starting from afternoon on Tuesday and the site became fully crowded at evening time. The fully prepared participants were having red and green caps with the PTI title upon them. The enthusiasm and fondness for the party was apparent and crystal clear from the painted faces and the raiment of the activists. Moreover, to enhance and boost up the ecstasy, energy and zeal, different singers cast a spell with their melodious voices over the crowded park –singing national and party songs. To entertain and provide refreshment to the mob coming from outside the federal capital and long-travelled workers, numerous stalls of eatables were also organised at the venue, which caused a profit earning business to the local vendors of eatables. The PTI Chairman, Imran Khan, waved to his supporters after reaching the stage. He was joined by Sheikh Rashid, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Chaudhry Sarwar, Barrister Sultan Mahmood and other PTI leaders. While talking to Daily Times the Insaf Youth Wing KPK’s Presidentm Sajjad Khan said, “The people of our province reached here in a large number as they felt that KP had become changed and only Imran Khan would bring peace and prosperity to the country”. He further said: “The attachment of youth with Imran Khan is well known but now the elders, women and other age groups have also joined the PTI”. Hundreds of PTI workers, who were stuck in a traffic jam at the Expressway, parked their cars by the roadside and left for the rally while motorcyclists used the green belt between the roads as a parking lot. A special enclosure for female workers was also established by the management but an untoward incident of clash between women happened. However, the organisers quickly intervened and controlled the situation. According to sources, 10,000 police personnel had been deployed as part of the security detail for the rally. The Islamabad Traffic Police had also prepared a traffic plan to avoid traffic jams on the roads around the venue. The main leadership including the PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahangir Tareen, Pervez Khattak and a large number of PTI parliamentarians were present on the stage. The leaders once again lambasted on the corruption of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and other ruling elite. The participants were of the view that the Supreme Court intervention was a result of Imran Khan’s commitment against the corruption of Nawaz Sharif and soon he would be fixed by the apex court. Meanwhile, it was observed on Tuesday that all the roads leading to the Red Zone of Islamabad were sealed. Containers were placed at the Faisal Avenue and the Kashmir Highway to tackle any uncertain situation. A heavy contingent of Islamabad Police and the Frontier Constabulary remained present in the capital city especially along the routs leading towards the PTI’s gathering.
