ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday asked the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the arrests of his party’s supporters by police. Talking to reporters outside his Bani Gala residence, Khan asked under which law people were being arrested. “This is no arrest… this is abduction.” He reiterated that it was a trial of the judiciary, under whose watch people were being arrested. “Nawaz Sharif is a product of a dictatorship, he does not understand democracy,” he remarked, referring to his roots as political roots, when he served as Chief Minister under President Zia-ul-Haq. He said that the prevailing situation in the country was a trial for the country’s judicial system as it was responsible for protecting the democracy. “I am ready to go to jail. I will again launch my protest on the streets when released,” Khan added. Terming Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a product of Martial Law, the PTI Chairman said he only knows how to plunder the country. “Whenever he is asked to present himself for accountability, he whines about a threat to the country, CPEC and the national development,” Khan said. “They want to destroy state institutions and protect their corruption. They create theatrics and tell us to wait for general elections in 2018,” Chairman PTI said. He told his party members to prepare themselves to fight all those opposing the party’s accountability movement.
