ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs andInterfaith Harmony has finalised a plan to establish an Emergency Management System (EMS) to handle emergency situations during Hajj. According to Hajj Policy 2106, the EMS would help in tackling Mina stampede like situation. The detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) of EMS are also being prepared. The guidelines for EMS would be issued soon in consultation with the Saudi authorities. The ministry would also constitute Emergency Response Team (ERT) to cope with any emergency. Pilgrims Affairs director general will head the ERT. Members of ERT includes Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony joint secretary, Welfare Staff Moavineen director or his second in command, Welfare (Medical) director or his second in command, Facilitation and Coordination director or his vice, representative of ambassador of Pakistan in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and representative of Hajj Group Organisers Association of Pakistan.
