Srinagar: The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) of Indian occupied Kashmir has strongly condemned the killing a civilian, Tawseef Ahmed Butt, and injuring of more than 70 civilians by Indian forces during peaceful demonstrations in Pulwama. According to KMS, the HCBA in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced in strong terms the use of brute force by Indian troops against the people in Pulwama, Budgam and Bandipora areas. It also expressed concern over the lodging of complaints against Kashmiri students enrolled in a Dental College in the Meerut city of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh for raising pro-Pakistan slogans. The Bar Association hailed the efforts of the UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres who is reportedly trying to bring India and Pakistan on a table of negotiations to resolve the Kashmir dispute. It appealed to the United Nations (UN) chief to take steps towards early implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir to settle the lingering dispute. The HCBA also requested the UN to impress upon India to stop bloodshed in occupied Kashmir and fulfil its promise of holding plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir to enable the Kashmiri people decide their fate.
