Conspiracy theorists are claiming to have discovered proof of time travel after finding evidence of ancient statues holding what looks like modern-day designer handbags. Conspiracy theory website UFO Today has released a YouTube video called “The Secret of the handbag in ancient stone carvings and statues – Ancient Aliens?”, making the astonishing allegations. The video claims the handbag is synonymous with modern woman, but has been seen in the hands of statues of ancient nobles from Mesopotamia to Mexico. In a report about the video, fellow conspiracy website Disclose.tv, said, “In Mesopotamia, the cradle of modern civilisation, the symbol of the mysterious handbag is shown in countless stone carvings and statues, dating back as far as 10,000BC.” The video suggested the handbag motif was connected to the Annunaki, who represent a group of deities in ancient Mesopotamia. It then looks at the apparent appearance of the handbags held by statues in the time of the Sumerian, Phoenician, Assyrian and the Etruscan civilisations. It also found the handbag across the ocean in South America, and at Tula, an archaeological site in Mexico developed during the times of the Toltecs after the fall of Teotihuacan. They have also been found in carvings in Indonesia. The video considered whether they could have been taken back by time travellers from the future, before being carved into statues, or if they were some sort of alien technology given to our ancient ancestors. A blurb with the video said, “How did this handbag symbol become a worldwide phenomenon? And more importantly, what did it represent? Did it contain secret knowledge offered by the gods as some myths claim? Was it some form of secret technology that we have forgotten?”
