2017 — Kate surprised us with her choice this year and it’s her most bold outfit to date for Trooping the Colour. The hot pink Alexander McQueen dress appeared to be a modified version of a pleated sleeveless design from the AW16 collection. The Duchess’ version featured sleeves, a pleated neckline and paper bag waist detailing. Her Jane Taylor hat complimented the ensemble perfectly and she accessorised with her cream Etui clutch bag and the Queen’s diamond drop earrings – worn to last year’s Diplomatic Corps reception. Princess Charlotte matched her mother and was dressed in a pink and white handsmocked dress with red buckle shoes and a matching bow. Prince George wore a cream Peter Pan collar shirt, with shorts and burgundy braces. 2016 — Kate brought out a wardrobe classic for last year’s parade – a white Alexander McQueen coatdress, she’d previously worn to her daughter Princess Charlotte’s christening. A fitting tribute to royals old and new. It’s the fourth time the Duchess has opted for McQueen and the inverted necklace and exaggerated lapels show off Kate’s décolletage and her Empress necklace from Mappin & Webb. She teamed it with a pastel pink floral Philip Treacy hat, complimenting Charlotte’s cap-sleeved hand smocked dress. Prince George wore a royal hand-me-down, sporting Prince William’s blue peter pan collar shirt and shorts he wore to brother Prince Harry’s christening. The family co-ordinated well, a theme that Kate has kept up for official engagements and the royal tour of Canada. This is possibly our favourite look she has worn for the annual ceremony. 2015 — a different designer and a slightly bolder look for 2015. Kate turned to one of her coat dress favourites, Catherine Walker, for this blue floral ensemble. The ‘Astrid’ style was a ready-to-wear piece, unlike Kate’s previous bespoke garments, and featured a neat rounded collar and oversized button detailing. She accessorised with an ivory Lock & Co hat and aquamarine drop earrings. While Kate’s look this year was probably the brightest we’ve seen her wear for the ceremony, Prince George stole some of the limelight on his Trooping the Colour debut. Fans were quick to notice he was wearing the same blue suit worn by his father in 1984. 2014 — it was Alexander McQueen once again for 2014’s parade in the form of a suit jacket and skirt. The ice blue/grey number featured a flattering peplum detail with hook-eye fastenings and a pearl brooch. Kate’s hat by Jane Taylor matched the two-piece and she tied the look together with her Kiki McDonough hooped earrings with Annoushka pearl drops. 2013 — Mum-to-be Kate looked blooming lovely in a pale pink Alexander McQueen coat dress for 2013’s ceremony. The custom-piece from one of the Duchess’ favourite designers featured a wide collar and pearl buttons – which Kate matched with her Annoushka earrings. Her hat was a Jane Corbett design, a repeat from a Buckingham Palace Garden party in 2012, while she carried a suede grey clutch by Alexander McQueen.
