A cowboy boot shaped house has gone up for rent in Houston, Texas. The unique and whimsical two bedroom, one bathroom home has been designed and built by artist Dan Phillips. Phillips gained inspiration for his extraordinary design from “The Old Who Lived in A Shoe” nursery rhyme. He said, “I’ve always been fascinated since I was a child to build houses that looked like the houses in story books – to do child-like designs and use a lot of whimsy. A life without whimsy is certainly a non-life.” The wacky home – which will cost £1,000-a-month – also features a spiral staircase leading to a stunning roof top deck. But don’t worry about having to live in a strange shape, the boot is connected to a more traditional shaped house next door. The house comes with a bathroom, kitchen, two bedrooms and 711 square feet of space. Dan uses a range of recycled materials in his constructions, which includes cork, old picture frames and even old CDs. And on each of his projects, Dan employs a set of workers who have no building experience to give them the skills necessary to find future work. Once work on the Cowboy Boot is completed next month, Phillips is planning to build a Cowboy Hat House nearby. Dan Phillips is an American designer and builder from Texas.
