LAHORE: The trial court hearing the Khadija stabbing case on Thursday reserved the verdict after concluding hearing of arguments from both the prosecution and defence which will be read out on July 29. According to details, Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Awan led hearing at Cantt Courts on day to day basis, concluding the trial in one month and twenty days. In concluding arguments, the prosecution submitted that it had presented all the evidence including eye witnesses and the DNA evidence which it said should be enough to secure a guilty verdict. The media reports suggested that the forensic evidence includes accused’s helmet which carries strains of blood that matches the victim. The prosecution called for a maximum sentence while the defence maintained innocence submitting there were “contradictions” in prosecution’s case, adding that the evidence wasn’t enough for a guilty verdict and that the accused should be acquitted. The court after concluding arguments from both sides reserved the verdict which will be read out on July 29. Khadija Siddiqui, a young law student and her six-year-old sister were stabbed allegedly by her class fellow Shah Hussain last year in Lahore. Both Khadija and her sister survived the attack and had to undergo intensive surgery.
