Britain’s Jeremy Corbyn is right about many things. Most of all about the role of the country’s foreign policy and increased terrorist threats from networks such as Al Qaeda and ISIS. Those in power have waged a campaign to silence him, going as far as to accuse him of appallingly timed political opportunism in the wake of the Manchester attack. We stand with Mr Corbyn. Especially as his views have been vindicated by the Chilcot inquiry’s de-classification of certain Joint Intelligence Committee assessment reports. One of which is dated February 2003 and states: “the threat from Al Qaeda will increase at the onset of any military action against Iraq . . . The worldwide threat from other Islamist groups will increase significantly”. It was an echo of a similar assessment dated Oct 2002. And today, we know the whole truth. Not only that Britain waged an illegal war of aggression in Iraq. But also that MI5 actively sent British Libyans and exiles back to Libya to fight alongside the rebel fighters to overthrow Gaddafi, the man who had given up his nukes just months after the decimation of Iraq. Britain’s deal with those whom it sent to fight as proxies in yet another overseas war was a sort of reverse option to the CIA rendition programme. Under Britain’s ‘open door policy’ those who had counter-terrorism control orders placed on them in the immediate aftermath of 7/7 — including remaining at a registered address for up to 16 hours a day — were obviously know to the authorities. Yet in a bid to effect regime change not entirely at Her Majesty’s Service — the spooks saw fit to hire them as mercenaries. For let there be no mistake about it, these non-state fighters were paid for services rendered. This included having passports returned or being granted citizenship. This is not the first time that MI5 has secreted British enemy combatant to foreign lands. Back in 2011, the same time that the open door policy for Libya really took off — Pakistan’s very own Gen Musharraf dropped a bombshell. Britain’s spooks had done more or less the same here. Meaning that they had sent to this country British terror suspects in a bid to outsource torture to those who may or may not do it best. What does this mean for the British people who head to the polls early next month? Is there any alternative to drive Britain forward on a more just future course? Sadly, the answer appears to be no. While Corbyn may be Britain’s only statesman — he is, nevertheless head of a decidedly non-gentlemanly party; one that was responsible for waging the illegal war in Iraq as well as fudging intelligence. This is important to note for the Labour Party has never taken action against their former champagne socialist leader who, if truth be told, was a bit of a right canapé Charlie all along. Thus, by all expectations, we are in for more of the same. Meaning that Britain will remain a nuclear-armed aggressor nation that lies to its own citizenry as well as to everyone else’s; a nation mired in proxy wars. *
