Foreign observers satisfied

* US Senator John Kerry and British envoy Robert Brinkley visit polling stations
* EU team satisfied with security arrangements


ISLAMABAD: Foreign observers, ambassadors and analysts on Monday visited hundreds of polling stations across the country and expressed satisfaction on the polling process.

Talking to Geo News, they opined that the polling process was not much different from other countries. However, during their visit to Peshawar, they said most of the voters there preferred to stay at home due to security reasons.

John Kerry, the US Senator and former presidential candidate, visited polling stations in Islamabad and expressed the hope that the elections would provide new opportunity to restore stability in the country.

Meanwhile, the Canadian and Chinese ambassadors to Pakistan, and hundreds of foreign observers also expressed satisfaction over the polling process. They hoped the elections would strengthen democracy in the country.

The observers from US, Europe and other countries also visited various polling stations in Rawalpindi and talked with the polling staff and polling agents of the candidates.

British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley also visited polling stations in the capital and observed the polling process, Geo TV reported.

John Kerry and hundreds of observes visited Lahore in the afternoon and viewed the voting process.

An observer mission from the European Union visited polling stations in Chakwal and expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements. agencies
