KARACHI: Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s first and largest Islamic bank has been awarded as the best Islamic bank in Pakistan for the sixth consecutive time at the Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards. Meezan Bank Deputy CEO Ariful Islam received the awards at the grand awards ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Meezan Bank has also been awarded as the ‘Best Bank for Digital Innovation’ and the ‘Best Digital Banking Product for Meezan UPaisa’ across Asia. The bank has been acknowledged for its creative strategy in expanding the reach of Islamic banking to the unbanked population of Pakistan through its initiative of Meezan Upaisa – the world’s first Islamic branchless banking product. The bank has also been awarded with the following awards: Best Retail Bank, Best Trade Finance Bank, Best Investment Bank, Sukuk House of the Year and the Best Deal Pakistan of K-Electric Rs 22 Billion Rated, Listed and Secured Diminishing Musharaka Sukuk, in which the bank has acted as one of the joint mandate lead arranger and joint Shariah structuring advisers. These awards highlighted Meezan Bank’s continuous growth and manifested the trust and confidence customers have placed in the bank and its products and services. This is the sixth consecutive year in which Meezan Bank has been awarded with multiple awards by Asset Triple A Islamic Finance awards. The bank’s service and product excellence has been consistently recognised by multiple local and international institutions. These institutions include Islamic Finance News – Malaysia, Global Finance magazine – New York, Asset AAA – Hong Kong, Asiamoney – Hong Kong, The Banker – United Kingdom and CFA Association – Pakistan. Most recent was the ‘Best Islamic Bank in Pakistan’ by Pakistan Banking Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the Pakistani financial sector.
