LAHORE: A meeting of energy experts was held on Friday at the WAPDA House to asses load forecast, generation planning and devise a plan for future need of the power sector. National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) Managing Director Dr Fiaz A Chaudhry chaired the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the NTDC MD said, “We all are connected with the power sector of Pakistan, and there is a need to share the load forecast and generation planning with key stakeholders to asses demand and supply gap to help the government eliminate the menace of load shedding from the country.” Sharing the views on the load forecast and generation planning, experts appreciated the efforts of the NTDC MD for providing them an opportunity to have a discussion on various issues of the power sector. The participants said that such discussions would help in assessing the actual load forecast in order to devise and plan action for future needs by all concerns. “It will also help evaluate the modus operandi, especially the one, which is in better interest of the country.” It was decided that all stakeholders would share their input with the NTDC to be discussed in the next session. Dr Fiaz thanked the participants for coordinating and making the session successful. Experts from Hubco, Orient Energy Systems, Albario Engineering, General Electric, CPPAG, Descon, ABB, Master Wind Energy, Engro Powergen Ltd, SHPL, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Lucky Electric, Lalpir and Pakgen, HDIP, Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) and, MAQ International and senior officials from the Sindh Energy Department and the NTDC participated in the meeting.
