SUKKUR: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday inaugurated the 6th Date Palm Festival at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto open air theatre, Khairpur.

Khairpur Munawar Mithiani, PPP leader Nazar Muhammad Gaho and others were also present.
Speaking in the Seminar on the occasion, the CM Sindh said Pakistan ranked fourth in date palm production and Khairpur district had been identified as date palm orchards at national and international level.
He said that support of the commerce ministry would be sought for this festival so that people get awareness about the importance of the fruit that could get more space in national and international market. As many as 40 stalls were set up at the festival where various varieties of date palm fruit, including Aseel, Qarbala-in, Dedhi, Asul, Kurrh, Nakul, Patasho, Pathari, Toto, Khurmo, Ahmed wari, Autaq-in,Jilebi, Misri and others were put on display.
Besides, different articles made from the leaves of date palm tree, including floor mats, brooms, bags and decoration pieces were also put on display in the show.
MNA Nafisa Shah would the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the Festival on Sunday.
