ISLAMABAD: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has stressed the need to develop agriculture sector by using modern technology in FATA. While presiding over a meeting in Peshawar on Thursday, he directed the concerned authorities to take steps for development of agriculture sectors as it is the backbone of our national economy. The governor said that about 700,000 hectare of cultivable land is available, out of which about 250, 000 hectares is under cultivation in tribal areas. The meeting was informed that sixteen small dams are in operational in FATA through which more than 7, 000 hectare land is irrigated. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said with the promotion of agriculture not only the area will be self sufficient in food to great extent, but also generate employment opportunities for local people.
