KARACHI: The rupee made slight gains in the open market on insignificant payments for import bills and dull interest from the corporate sector, said treasurers. The US dollar closed flat at Rs 104.40 for buying and Rs 104.60 for selling in interbank, maintained in several previous sessions’ level. “There was little demand for dollars in the market, which helped the rupee to remain firm,” said a dealer at a foreign exchange company. The pound sterling closed at Rs 125.61 for buying and Rs 125.81 for selling, and witnessed an upward change from the previous session’s level, by 96 paisas. The pound sterling was trading at Rs 125.80 for buying and Rs 125.81 for selling in early trading. The euro closed at Rs 110.76 for buying and Rs 110.96 for selling, up by 03 paisas from the previous session’s level. Open market: The rupee witnessed slight upward change against the dollar in the market, said dealers. The greenback closed at Rs 108.30 for buying and Rs 108.50 for selling lost 05 paisas from previous session’s level. The euro closed at Rs 114 for buying and Rs 114.20 for selling, shedding 25 paisas. The pound sterling closed at Rs 130 for buying and Rs 130.20 for selling. It declined by 97 paisas.
