ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday lauded the government for taking action against illegal chambers of commerce terming it a great step in the right direction. PEW President Dr Murtaza Mughal said that some chambers of commerce were being ruled by families and groups where decisions were not taken on merit which must be discouraged. Mughal said that there are some chambers of commerce that discourage the real representatives of the business community, dishearten the genuine businessmen and spread false information which affects economic development. A statement issued on Thursdays said that the director general of Trade Organisations (DGTO) has taken a bold step by dissolving the body governing Mardan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MWCCI).
