ISLAMABAD: The weekly inflation for the week that ended on February 9 for the combined income groups remained unchanged as compared to the previous week. According to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) here, the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group remained stable at 218.69 percent. However, as compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review witnessed an increase of 1.25 per cent. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007 2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group of up to Rs 8,000 witnessed a nominal decrease of by 0.01 percent as it went down from 209.01 points in the previous week to 208.98 points in the week under review. As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 to 12,000 and Rs 12,001 to 18,000 remained unchanged. The SPI based inflation for the income group from Rs 18,001 to 35,000 witnessed an increase of 0.01 percent while it remained stable for the income group above Rs 35,000. During the week under review, average prices of 11 items registered a decrease, while 13 items increased with the remaining 29 items’ prices unchanged. The items, which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included eggs, gram pulse, potatoes, LPG Cilynder, Sugar, moong pulse, masoor pulse, maash pulse, vegetable ghee, red chilly, milk (powdered). The items, which recorded increase in their average prices included chicken (farm), onions, bananas, tomatoes, garlic, rice (basmati), cooking oil, vegetalbe ghee (tin), mustard oil, beef, wheat, rice (irri-6) and gur. The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included wheat, bread, milk (fresh), curd, salt, tea (packet), cooked beef, cooked daal, tea (prepared), cigarettes, long cloth, shirting, lawn, georgette, gents sandal, gents chappal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, kerosene oil, firewood, electric bulb, washing soap, match box, petrol, diesel, telephone local call and bath soap.
